Historically women have worked from home , i.e. have been their own bosses. Men usually worked or hunted in groups where they had to obey orders.
Women therefore have more experience of multi-tasking, time scheduling, working to long term goals, working without a structure with no fixed hours. These are all qualities required to run a small business.

Women don’t mind asking for help, whereas many men of us men are too proud and try and do everything themselves.

Men traditionally went out hunting if they killed one big beast a month they were a hero, women had the boring, tedious and meticulous jobs preparing vegetables, gathering berries, sewing clothes. Lots of the activities required for starting your own business are tedious and repetitive.

A final crucial advantage is that women are used to operating in negative situations, ie where people disapprove of their actions or aspirations, a situation many start-up businesspeople find themselves in. Men who have left a secure job where everyone admired them to start their own business find this especially difficult.

So parents if you want your sons to do as well as your daughters get them to start peeling carrots and shelling peas, and I mean it!

What do you think?

Last Autumn I achieved one of my goals when I earned $50,000 total on the Internet, now this is total sales not profit and has taken 3 years.
It includes my eBay and Amazon sales as well, only a proportion of it is pure Internet Marketing Income ie affiliate sales or selling my own digital products.
I’ve earned money online so many ways, in fact there seem to be no limit to the ways you can legitimately earn money.
I know how to create interesting and useful blogs and web pages which get decent page rank and attract traffic.
Quality traffic can be transformed into income in so many ways.

Yet even after all this time I still haven’t found one absolutely consistent sure way of earning enough money to consider giving up my day job.
The whole thing about Internet Marketing is its unpredictability I mean something that I might put lots of effort into hardly earns a cent, and something I do in a rush might do very well, something that I thought was as dead as dodo will make a few sales out of the blue.

Same thing with promotion ie when I spend a few hours traveling around the web posting comments in other people’s blogs and forums, you expect a kind of instant boost of traffic back to your sites, but no it doesn’t work like that the traffic boost if it comes at all , may come weeks later.
Even though I should know better I expected to see a rush of visitors to my own lenses as people investigated who left them such complimentary remarks, but nothing. Then a few days later a very high-level Squidoo Angel started visiting a bunch of my lenses and recommended one for a Purple Star which it subsequently got. Over the next few weeks I noticed wave after wave of traffic which had originated from that one day’s efforts. So it does work but it’s incredibly non-linear.

If you’ve been a wage-slave as I have this is very hard to understand and even after all this time I still don’t. I would guess that farmers would understand this easier as they plant crops that may never mature or if they mature never sell, but they still have to put all that effort in and have faith that at least one of their crops will be lucrative. This very randomness unfortunately makes it difficult to draw any conclusions as to what I’m doing right or wrong, So I’m still lacking that faith required single-mindedly toil day after day blogging, creating content, and just as enthusiastically promoting my work on forums, exploiting social-marketing sites etc, but no I still seem to irrationally see proof that it works at all.

I need to become more focused, more commercial I must cease my blanket approach ,cease my vanity projects, become hard-nosed only investing my efforts in projects that that have real commercial prospects. This means more researching learning everything I possibly can about SEO and Keyword Research. Now here is the acknowledged best Keyword Research tool marketsamurai.com which is a free 30 day trial (after the free trial the basic Keyword Research functionality remains active).

I’ve also done well with 77 ways to make $100 per day online

I’ve just made a commission from a website which has only ever had 8 visits and I may have been half of those, that’s really Long Tail; of course I’m still waiting for sales from some of my other websites which have had tons of traffic. But that’s Internet Marketing there’s no logic or justice to it, you will eventually be rewarded if you carry on creating content, blogging, cleverly positioning affiliate links etc. But if like me you’ve been a wage-slave for a longtime it’s pyschologically difficult to work for a completely uncertain reward. I still feel that even after I’ve had much success and earned online income from many different sources, I make 2 or 3 sales everyday, but I still get anxious if have a couple of dry days, also I’m still held back by the feeling that I’m waiting for Internet Marketing to prove to me that you really can make a living from it rather than plunging ahead. That’s all there is to it just working away, perhaps harder than you’ve ever worked before, all the time increasing my “web estate”, increasing my chances in a non-linear way, all the time learning new tricks, understanding SEO a little better, learning to write a better more interesting blog . I know that’s what I have to do but it’s not easy. Oh by the way heres that website with just 8 visits squidoo.com/morland-pub-signs which earned an affiliate commission from eBay for selling a clock!

One of my Success M ilestones was that I should make a sale or earn an affiliate fee every day. Well in October 2009 I finally managed this and had an exciting flurry of sales during the third week. What was nice was that I earned income from 12 separate income streams including one that I’d completely forgotten about. It does not yet add up to a “quit my job” income but is promising. The next success stage must be to have organic growth in sales month by month.

You may wonder why I’m disappointed well it’s taken me three years and I’ve tried so many things that success now tastes bitter-sweet like a marathon runner who flops across the line. Also I know I must not relax my efforts, must not let go of the momentum in fact I must work even harder.

I must thank Squidoo a lot for giving me confidence and teaching me so much about marketing ideas. Here’s my most popular lens Top Toys for Xmas which did zilch last Christmas but is roaring away this year! What’s great about Squidoo is that once you get the hang of creating successful lens it’s scalable and repeatable. Click here to join Squidoo for free here

Bloggers trying to make a living online have to “Pay it Forward” that means they have to blog away creating postings never knowing whether what they are doing will ever earn them any money. Having no boss they have to find even more motivation than normal salaried workers, it is too easy for them to fritter their time away trawling the net “researching”.
I have been using Action Enforcer to help me with my lackluster days, I only really need it get going as I know once I get a few jobs completed my energy levels will increase. Action Enforcer encourages you to choose one task and then stick to it. It works because it’s very easy to use and becomes a kind of psychological supervisor setting you a self-defined deadline.

More and more working people whether home-workers or not have to be self-motivating have tasks that need completing but have no direct supervision just an expecatation that work will be done. Students studying for distant examinations or writers with a delivery date may be months away are in the same boat. They become more and more anxious as time is frittered away. In all these cases Action Enforcer is a boon learn more by clicking here
